   Would you know the ratio of weekends when they do single track vs. when they   
   do not?   
      
   For what it's worth, from the unscientific perspective of merely being on the   
   train, it appears that weekend track or tunnel work is happening a great deal   
   of the time.  Even with schedule padding the trains are often a few minutes   
   late arriving or    
   leaving from Penna Station in NYC.   
      
   (One time I was shocked that an outbound train actually left Penna Station on   
   time!  But the excitement was short lived.  We moved about one train length,   
   then paused for about five minutes.)  Sometimes an outbound train will make up   
   the delay by the    
   time it hits the distant stations, although stuff can happen en route, too.    
   Often the train will stop and an Amtrak train will pass us.
