When we had the tour of the Penna Station control center on a weekend, it was
interesting watching the electronic model board* show the fleeting aspect of
the weekend trains converging together in New Jersey.

If NYTM ever offers the Penna Station tour again, I highly recommend it.

*I don't know how many appearances the old model boards of Penna Station were
duplicated between the towers and dispatchers. But the electronic one is
fascinating. In the control center, a huge wall displays the entire railroad
   from roughly Newark to
Jamaica. (We were not allowed to take any pictures). On PC screens, one
could look at the entire picture, or zoom in to see any particular section.
   Pretty slick stuff.
