If 7-digit, maybe the area       code has changed. (NJT still should have posted new signs, though.       Stickers are cheap.)              Did you eventually find some way to contact NJT?              > Could it have been a cellphone glitch?              If you just dialed 7 digits of a 10 digit number, that may have been the       problem.              I live near the boundary of area codes 816 and 913. If I'm far enough       to one side of the boundary, I usually don't have to dial the area code       to call a number in that same area code. If I'm near the boundary, it       seems to depend on which tower my phone is talking to at the moment.       Dialing all 10 digits always works, no matter where I am.              The times I've turned in grade crossing problems, I think it's always       been a toll-free number. Once was to a Class 1 (BNSF or UP, I don't       remember which) and one was a regional shortline. Both times I got a       human after just a couple of rings.              Matt Roberds              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
