Except this statistic that you keep quoting ignores a number of things,
which have been pointed out to you many times before.

Buses are useful feeders for train service, when there aren't enough
passengers to justify a train. Using a Thruway bus and an Amtrak train
it is possible to get from Portland, Oregon to Anacrotes, Washington in
   a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks to a lack of train service going the other way and due to the
infamous catastrophe of traffic in Seattle, it can take the bus two
hours to make a trip that the train can do in about 50 minutes, but alas
the choices are either very early in the morning or very late at night
if you want to take the train. If you want to travel in the afternoon
your only choice is to get on a bus and get stuck in afternoon Seattle
   rush hour traffic.
