   Yes, those are for shorter blocks specially approaching interlockings   
   thus allowing trains to run at a higher speed over greater distances. At   
   present with equal length blocks the trains that have to take a turnout   
   have to run at approach or approach medium speed, depending on the   
   diverging speed of the turnout, for an inordinate amount of time and   
   distance. That problem will get fixed by having shorter blocks as one   
   approaches an interlocking, so that the advance home signal will be much   
   closer to the interlocking than it is now.
