|    Why no official report on Lac Megantic ?    |
|    11 Jul 14 11:04:22    |
From: j.albert@snet.net              It's now been a year since the runaway train disaster in Lac       Megantic. Yet I've seen nothing about the official report on       the incident from the Canadian equivalent of the FRA/STB,       etc. (isn't it called the "TSB" up there?)              Which makes me wonder WHY the report is being delayed.              I spent 32 years in engine service in freight, commuter,       long-distance passenger, so I have some knowledge as to       railroad matters.              I sense that the investigators pretty much had the facts as       to "why the train moved" within a very short time after they       downloaded the event recorders on the engines.              However, the data that they have contains some information       that I believe they do not want made public.              And I believe that this is why we've seen no report.              What actually happened on those engines may not "fit the       narrative" that officials want released before the public.              They've had more than a year to work on this.       What's holding it up???              --- SoupGate/W32 v1.03        * Origin: LiveWire BBS -=*=- UseNet FTN Gateway (1:2320/1)    |
