After all, Russia could easily win a       war against Ukraine.              From a purely military perspective, Canada cannot win.              But if 33 million Canadians do not accept an American occupation, then it will       be virtually impossible for the US to fully occupy Canada.              The cities in southern Canada are relatively easy to capture. Keeping them       permanently occupied by a hostile population is a different story.              In Toronto, millions of residents could start an uprising, and such a large       city poses a huge military challenge. The question is whether the US       population will tolerate the US bombing a city like Toronto and imprisoning       its population en masse in concentration camps. With a hostile population,       after all, you can hardly do otherwise.              The biggest problem for the US, however, is primarily the far north of Canada.       Canadians are easily mobile there, and the US will have a huge task       eliminating any Canadians who continue to resist.              A guerrilla war is ultimately unwinnable for the US. Losing soldiers in       attacks in Canada for months, and possibly years, will make an occupation of       Canada so expensive that the US, like Russia, will go bankrupt. People with       guns will win against a country with nuclear missiles.              Just as happened in Vietnam, but also as we saw in Afghanistan.              A US military invasion of Canada and Greenland will immediately isolate the       US's global position. Militarily, no one can simply defeat the US. But if no       one wants to trade with the US anymore, their global dominance will be gone       within a few years. The US without Canada and Europe, and facing the rest of       the world, will ultimately be economically, and consequently militarily,       hopeless.              If Trump orders an attack on Canada, I believe there's a good chance the US       military will revolt. I'd almost say I hope they would. Purely to save the US,       because that's what they're doing.               .       --- SBBSecho 3.33-Linux        * Origin: Vertrauen - [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net (1:103/705)       SEEN-BY: 10/0 1 102/401 103/1 705 105/81 106/201 124/5016 128/187       SEEN-BY: 129/14 305 153/7715 154/110 214/22 218/0 1 215 601 700 810       SEEN-BY: 218/840 860 880 226/30 227/114 229/110 112 134 206 300 307       SEEN-BY: 229/317 400 426 428 470 700 705 266/512 280/464 291/111 292/854       SEEN-BY: 301/1 320/219 322/757 342/200 396/45 460/58 633/280 712/848       SEEN-BY: 902/26 5075/35       PATH: 103/705 218/700 229/426           |
