Residents       complain about pollution, dangerous situations, noise, etc. But if you make it       nearly impossible for them to live there, they leave, and then you have no       more objectors. Residents with children, in particular, "whine" far too much,       in the eyes of the oil companies. Consequently, the companies hire fewer and       fewer locals.              You simply fly in your employees for month-on, month-off work, and as a       company, you can just operate as usual if those employees don't live nearby.       Those employees don't complain about local pollution, etc.              The city councils, under the influence of lobbyists, ensure that less and less       money goes to schools and healthcare. Alaska currently ranks last among all US       states in terms of school quality. Healthcare is also deteriorating.              Families are leaving because more and more schools are being forced to close.       They no longer receive government funding, and student enrollment is steadily       declining due to the many departures. Oil companies are no longer hiring       locals. Consequently, there's little work. The companies prefer to fly their       employees in every month. This allows the business community to significantly       impact life in this state. In fact, large corporations control the state of       Alaska.               .       --- SBBSecho 3.33-Linux        * Origin: Vertrauen - [vert/cvs/bbs].synchro.net (1:103/705)       SEEN-BY: 103/705 105/81 106/201 124/5016 128/187 129/14 305 153/757       SEEN-BY: 153/7715 154/10 30 110 203/0 218/700 221/0 226/30 227/114       SEEN-BY: 229/110 112 134 206 300 307 317 400 426 428 470 700 705 240/1120       SEEN-BY: 240/5832 263/1 266/512 280/464 5003 5006 291/111 292/854       SEEN-BY: 292/8125 301/1 310/31 320/219 322/757 341/66 234 342/200       SEEN-BY: 396/45 423/120 460/58 256 1124 633/280 712/848 770/1 902/26       SEEN-BY: 5020/400 5054/30 5075/35       PATH: 103/705 280/464 460/58 229/426           |
