   This is on a topic we've talked about in the last couple days.   
      
      
   I heard Ron DeSantis  was talking again on no property taxes in the state of   
   Florida.   
      
   His problem is that this is done at the county level and not at the State.   
      
   He's asked for the house to formulate a law or a constitutional amendment   
    and they are giving him grief... Everything they have put together won't pass   
   the threshold to advance it any further.   
      
   What Ron wants is this.  Anyone who has Homesteaded their property you are   
   eligible for property tax exemption.   
      
   For those who don't know... Homesteading your property in Florida means that   
   that property is your primary residence and as such your the county makes your   
   property for tax purposes cheaper.  Homestead exemption is $50,722.00 and your   
   taxes are calculated after that deduction.   
      
   One MAJOR benefit of Homestead is that that property is not subject to any   
   assets you may have if you have been sued... Even the Federal government can   
   sue you and they won't get your Homesteaded house.   
      
   Ergo, Trump's Mar-a-Lago fits this as well... Subject to lot size.   
      
   So if you own 5 properties in Florida and live in 1 of them and you have   
   homesteaded it, that property will have no property taxes, the other 4 will.   
      
   So if you are sued the other properties may be added in as assets you own and   
   your Homesteaded property is yours.   
      
   Ron claims that government spending has grown faster than the increase in   
   people moving into the state.   
      
   Ron has started a new agency called Florida DOGE to find waste and fraud.   
      
   With the use of DOGE Ron is convinced that it can be done...    
      
   Spending in Miami-Dade county increases 50% in five years... Only ~65000   
   people have moved to Miami showing that Miami is spending ~13000 per person.    
   They have hired new staff... apparently they hired a sh!t load of people   
   ... most of those were bureaucrats.     
      
   Ron Says there is a spending problem and not a money problem.   
      
   One last point... There is a lady who works in Hillsborough County where she's   
   on the property tax team and she works for a non-government agency, and she   
   makes ~100K there, and said Hillsborough county donates a million in tax   
   payer's money to that NGO...  Where she gets paid 100K... and makes that, if   
   not more, for working for the government at the county.   
      
   After listening to Ron for the 5th time I think he has a point.   
      
   The same corruption we learned about at the Federal level exists as you work   
   your way down the ladder.   
      
   Cut out the wasteful spending and you won't be running a deficit never mind...   
   well wasting tax payers money.
