Local businesses are struggling. Christmas shopping       is jeopardized because imports from China have been disrupted; this could cost       retail chains their profits. Local banks, heavily burdened with loans to local       businesses, are now in dire straits.              In short, things aren't going well for the US inland.              Where then?              Currently, growth is almost entirely driven by investments from the 20 largest       companies in the US. Their hundreds of billions in investments are distorting       the overall picture.              Perhaps this is a good thing, because as long as we don't all believe in a       depression, the fairy tale can persist. If everyone loses their composure,       things could go terribly wrong. Consumers would stop buying expensive goods,       and suddenly everything would dry up. The economy is made up of money that       circulates, generating taxes and profits. If consumers go on strike, there       would be panic, and the balance would be lost.              So soon, a lot of money will be pumped into the economy to give the impression       that there's still plenty of money around. Maybe we'll fall for it again.               .       --- SBBSecho 3.31-Linux        * Origin: End Of The Line BBS - endofthelinebbs.com (1:124/5016)       SEEN-BY: 10/0 1 102/401 103/1 705 105/81 106/201 124/0 5016 128/187       SEEN-BY: 129/14 305 153/7715 154/110 214/22 218/0 1 215 601 610 700       SEEN-BY: 218/810 840 860 880 226/30 227/114 229/110 112 206 300 307       SEEN-BY: 229/317 400 426 428 470 700 705 266/512 280/464 291/111 292/854       SEEN-BY: 301/1 320/219 322/757 342/200 396/45 460/58 633/280 712/848       SEEN-BY: 902/26 5075/35       PATH: 124/5016 218/700 229/426           |
