   The cost probably depends on what you're running for and how much you want to   
   win. The owner of a local dry cleaner company ran as a Republican in a state   
   assembly race and all she did was put her name on the ballot and was never   
   heard from again. It's a common phenomenon around here. There's no logical   
   reason to believe that she wasted any of her own money on that "attempt."
