|    Why US Import Tariffs Won't Work    |

If US       manufacturers want to compete with China in the US, they'll have to impose a       500% to 600% tariff.              US industrial products are literally 6 times more expensive if you want to       make them in the US.              This is due to the scale of production, which the US can't match. After all,       China produces for the world. The US wants to produce for the US.              Moreover, Americans want a wage that allows them to live in the US. With very       expensive American products, US wages will also have to rise.              And that's not even mentioning the fact that the US has to rebuild its       production from scratch. After all, it's practically gone. Are American       companies going to invest in something they know they can never compete with       globally? Suppose a future administration decides it's not worth it, then       you'll have invested billions for nothing. Who seriously wants to take that       risk?               .       --- SBBSecho 3.30-Linux        * Origin: End Of The Line BBS - endofthelinebbs.com (1:124/5016)       SEEN-BY: 1/19 16/0 19/37 103/705 105/81 106/201 123/130 124/0 5016       SEEN-BY: 128/187 129/14 305 142/104 153/757 7715 154/10 30 110 203/0       SEEN-BY: 218/700 221/0 1 6 242 226/30 227/114 229/110 206 300 307       SEEN-BY: 229/317 400 426 428 470 700 705 240/1120 5832 263/1 266/512       SEEN-BY: 280/464 5003 5006 291/111 292/854 8125 301/1 310/31 320/119       SEEN-BY: 320/219 319 2119 322/757 762 326/101 341/66 234 342/200 396/45       SEEN-BY: 423/81 120 460/58 467/888 633/280 712/848 770/1 902/26 5020/400       SEEN-BY: 5075/35       PATH: 124/5016 280/464 221/1 320/219 229/426           |
