   At the turn of the last century... I think it was 1907 J.P. Morgan lent the US   
   government money.  It was argued that J.P. Morgan saved/rescued the US from   
   failure.   
      
   The People, in We The People, demanded the government pay the debt off ASAP,   
   and they did.   
      
   J.P. Morgan lent the government actual money for an actual problem.  Today we   
   have a government who prints money to fix problems they made... and the public   
   seems to be content with that.
