But if some uplink systems balk at that, then Winpoint is        AA> basically incompatible with those systems.               Errrrrrm, not exactly :-)              If the user leaves the "domain" field of their address empty during the       initial installation, some(but not all) remote mailers will kick them off. I       personally don't see this as an incompatibilty, I see this as a user error.       The "domain" field is preloaded with "fidonet" and that can be changed to suit       "othernets" but, if for some reason, the user decides to delete the contents       of the "domain" field, they may not realise the implications of doing so.               AA> A list of those might be worth mentioning for the experimenting Winpoint        AA> user. No?              No :)              Here's the simple warning I'd already added to the guide:              ---------- 8< ----------       WARNING: You are now in the domain field, which is pre-configured to       "fidonet". Although it's OK to change this to something else, DO NOT LEAVE       THIS FIELD EMPTY. If this field is empty, you may encounter problems when       polling your BossNode!       ---------- 8< ----------              All uppercase words are in bold/red.               MF>>> I'm not so sure about a compatibility list but I'd already planned on        MF>>> adding a warning about this somewhere in my revised Guide that I'm        MF>>> working on.               AA> Ah.. Pretty much the same as above. But a general "user" (no sysop        AA> experience) may not understand the technical nature of the matter.              Precisely and that's why I've kept the warning simple :)       However, I'm planning on adding a "Known bugs/Issues" section at some point in       time where I can document the techno-babble if necessary.              Regards,       Martin              --- WinPoint Beta 5 (359.1)        * Origin: Bitz-Box - Bradford - UK (2:250/1.1)       SEEN-BY: 1/19 15/0 2 16/0 19/36 34/999 90/1 104/57 116/18 120/544       SEEN-BY: 123/130 131 140 1970 153/7715 154/10 203/0 124 218/700 220/60       SEEN-BY: 221/0 1 222/2 226/17 229/107 354 426 1014 230/0 150 152 240/1120       SEEN-BY: 240/5832 249/206 317 400 250/1 261/38 100 1466 266/512 267/155       SEEN-BY: 275/100 280/464 5003 282/1031 1056 291/1 111 292/624 854       SEEN-BY: 310/31 317/3 320/119 219 322/757 340/400 342/13 200 393/68       SEEN-BY: 396/45 423/81 120 712/848 770/1 801/161 189 2452/250 3634/12       SEEN-BY: 5020/1042       PATH: 250/1 261/38 320/219 203/0 280/464 229/426           |
