Although we never met in person, only via       OS/2, I considered him a true friend. He often enquired about "Port" Darwin       in the Northern Territory, where he was in WWII, and I myself was twice       stationed with the Weather Bureau. Although I'm not a "Dinky Di" Aussie,       having only been here since April 1961, when I emigrated from Jersey, the       largest of the (British) Channel Islands, not NJ on the East Coast, I no       longer have my original British accent, so pass for one.              When I was driving up the PCH in California in 1999 with my late wife, who       had terminal cancer and passed away three months after we returned here, we       stopped for a delightful fish lunch at Morro Bay - at what I think was       called "The Fish Shack", where I was introduced to a candy variety called       "Salt Water Taffy" and I believe produced somehere in or near Michigan.       It's really great and I bought a whole load of it that day. Jerry obtained       some years later for me, but with the Aussie Customs treating it as a       prohibited "food", he never was able to pass it over the Pacific to me!              He always referred to Los Osos as "Far NE Australia".              Saddest condolences,              Mike O'Connor              Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0              --047d7b339b7319ad52051431fde4       Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8       Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable                                                                                                                                              |
