Both of these readmes say that Java versions older than 1.5 will not work. As
far as I can tell, the
only java on my system is 1.4.2, installed by the eCS2.0 installer in
   g:\java142. Nevertheless, the
new releases of both Seamonkey and Firefox seem to work.

Could you please clarify the circumstances in which java 1.5 is needed and
   also recommend what
version to install, where to get it, and whether or not 1.4.2 should be
   uninstalled, and if so are
there any gotcha's involving other applications? I personally make no direct
use of java and do not
know what installed software, if any, requires it.

Also just out of curiosity, is it intentional that except for chrome.manifest
   and omni.jar, all of
the files in both the Seamonkey and Firefox releases have the identical time
   stamp -
2010/01/01-00:00:00 for Seamonkey and 2011/04/11-23:30:00 for Firefox?
