   No reason. But one may assume that a customized video driver is better   
   than a more generic driver. It isn't. FF/SM won't work, Idon't think    
   it matter why. Use SNAP. It's an example of something an OS pre- or    
   postinstaller could detect.   
      
   Again FWIW, AFAIK the broken driver is VFTPROS2.ZIP, affecting these    
   NeoMagic-containing Pentium II/III models: IBM ThinkPad 380, 380D,    
   380XD, 380Z, 385XD, 560X, 560Z, 600, 600E, 600X
