   I've had this issue for AGES now...my OS/2 machine is running the unofficial   
   FP6   
   for the CP2 installations though...so that may have something to do with it.   
      
   Anyways, the ONLY way for me to address this is by specifying the following in    
   CONFIG.SYS:   
      
   SET NSPR_OS2_NO_HIRES_TIMER=1   
      
   Without this statement in place, Firefox will run about 15 secs, maybe a    
   minute...then the whole system becomes 100% CPU utilized (tried on both 2 core    
   and 4 core CPU configuration).
