   No, we have to move away from the MP tables. ACPI comes with its own tables.   
   I have checked a new machine that claimed to have an MP table but the table   
   itself could not even be found at the indicated place. It was completely    
   hosed.   
      
   Forget about the "old fashioned" MP tables. ACPI tables are the future.   
   The ACPI table equivalent to the MP tables is called "MADT table".
