Don't waste your time. The hang as the GUI starts up is more likely to
be a startup conflict that is triggered by changing the timing of when
things start in CONFIG.SYS, when you have a USB stick attached. I have
seen it go both ways, it either fixes the problem, or, it causes it.
   Sometimes, it does neither one.

If you wish to attempt to fix the problem, I would suggest delaying
the power on of the USB port until after the rest of the system is
running. Of course, that may cause problems with the mouse, and
keyboard support. I also don't know what it will do if Legacy USB
   support is enabled.

FWIW, I have seen similar problems in WinXP and Win7. It seems to
depend on when the device actually tries to get the attention of the
OS. I also have a problem with my Asus M3A78-EM motherboard, where it
will stop during boot, to complain about not having a boot system on
my USB drive(s). An enter causes it to continue, but it is a PITA (it
doesn't boot if there is a boot system on it). This has nothing to do
with drivers, it is a fault in the BIOS support because it happens
long before the system actually tries to boot from the disk.
