   Which resulted in confusion in the market place that OS/2 would only run    
   on a PS/2 with Microchannel Architecture.  At the time PS/2 was    
   developed, IBM owned over 70% of the marketplace having lost about 15% of    
   it from its heydey.

   Actually, they let every hardware manufacturer see the interfaces and    
   worked with those who had a product coming down the pike that MS wanted    
   to support.  IBM decided to stick only with its customers.   
      
    None of the hardware folks make money, but the prices are low.
