   I attempted to download the win32 version of vlc - for a friend - to a    
   fat32 formatted USB flash drive that was empty so the download was to root.   
      
   The download completed successfully but the downloaded file did not    
   appear on the flash drive.   
      
   Downloading the file to a subdirectory on hard drive and then copying to    
   the root of the flash drive was successful.
