It doesn't work with 2.1b2pre yet because the version check prevents
installing it (currently limited up to 2.1a2pre). I tested it recently
2.1b2pre and it still works this SM version, even though there were
quite some changes in extension handling (for instance are extensions
no longer unpacked unless the extension enforces this).

The safest way is of course to wait for the official update of an extension.
That should be the preferred way for normal users. Since Andreas has experience
with SW development, he may try the following as he also nows the risk ;)

There are 2 general ways to get an Add-On or Theme installed if the
   browser complains about incompatibility:

   1. Install Add-On Compatibility Reporter and disable version checking.
Then install the Add-On or Theme you want to test, work with it
for a while and check if there are any obvious issues. If not you
may submit a compatibility report (see Add-On Manager, each Add-On
       got a reporting combobox).

   2. Download the XPI and unzip it to an empty folder (it's just a ZIP file).
Then open install.rdf and search for maxVersion XML tag. Then update
the version, for SM 2.1b2pre use "2.1b2pre". Now zip the files again
to a XPI package and then try to install it via file open. Beware that
there may be multiple maxVersion tags, usually one for FF and one for SM.

I highly recommend to test Add-Ons this way with an independent profile
until you know they work correctly. Of course both methods only make sense
if the main release version of the browser has not significantly changed.
Trying to install a SM 1.x Add-On on SM 2.x is guaranteed to fail.
