   Finally gave it a try.  No joy.  Still getting the same error when   
   trying to log in to my bank account.   
      
   However, I did succeed in logging in with a very old Firefox 2.0   
   that I still have installed, even though the bank sent me a list   
   of supported browsers, which included "Firefox 3.5 or higher" (but   
   no betas).  So, that verifies that Flash is NOT needed, contrary to   
   the bank's claim.  When using 4.0b8pre and PrefBar set to   
   "FF 2.0.0.2 Lin", which presumably emulates the Firefox 2.0 that   
   I was able to use successfully, I still got the error.  Hmm.
