I tried to download the new beta using the 20101030 beta. The dialog
came up that allowed me to choose between opening and saving the file.
I chose to save it. Then the filename dialog came up. I first tried
selecting the root directory of the default drive, but nothing got
saved. Then I tried simply clicking on OK and letting the download
get saved in the default location. Still nothing got saved. Then I
noticed that the default location is firefox-20101030\downloads, but
there is no downloads subdirectory of the firefox-20101030 directory,
so I'm wondering why the filename dialog shows it in the first place?
Then I chose the firefox-20101030 directory, and the download finally
succeeded. I can understand why the download to the downloads directory
failed, because it doesn't exist, though I don't know why the filename
dialog showed it in the first place, but I don't understand why the
download to the root directory failed.

I have fuzzy recollections of seeing some discussion along these lines
a long time ago. Is this a known problem?
