   I suggest that you forget about CUPS and install two printer objects for your   
   HP Laserjet P 2055 dn,    
   one using the Laserjet driver claiming that the printer is a Laserjet 2300,   
   and the other using the    
   Postscript driver, claiming that it is Laserjet 2300PS. The feature set of the   
   2300 closely matches    
   that of the 2055dn.   
      
   My experience using several Laserjet models some of which had exact driver   
   matches and some using a    
   close surrogate is that both drivers have bugs that are independent of printer   
   model.  For instance    
   the Laserjet driver sometimes messes up sans serif fonts and mono spaced   
   fonts. So far, I have    
   almost always succeeded in getting an acceptable printout using one driver or   
   the other.  In a very    
   small number of cases, I have used a pseudo printer (e.g., a HP Color Laser   
   Jet 9500 with the    
   postscript driver set to print to a file) to create a ps file then used   
   Ghostscript to print to the    
   real printer using ljet4 or ljet4d.
