   I just realized I should add a minor post-script to my prior post.  I   
   should have noted that I needed to upgrade to a newer motherboard and   
   processor to be able to use the ARC-5050 unit.  The old ASUS A7V8X   
   motherboard had no onboard SATA support and only PCI slots.  I tried both   
   SATA adapters for the onboard support and PCI SATA cards without finding a   
   way to work with the unit as none of them could negotiate a SATA   
   connection reliably.   
      
   So if you have an older motherboard keep this in mind.
