A URL has been sent to you via electronic mail. This URL is not to be
posted to Usenet or publicly archived.

The reason is simple. It's a URL for my own WWW server, running on a
machine that has a dynamically-assigned IP address. Post a URL for it to
Usenet, and that URL is hyperlinked by scads of people who like to post
Usenet discussions onto WWW pages (often pretending that they are some
sort of private discussion forum that the WWW site itself runs —
"Welcome, unregistered user. You are reading a message by Jonathan de
Boyne Pollard (guest). You may not post to Omni Consumer Web Products
Ltd's discussion group comp.os.os2.utilities. Please register an account
to post."). Then whomever is assigned the DHCP lease of this IP address,
after my machine goes elsewhere, has to suffer HTTP traffic from WWW
spiders in perpetuity. Let's not punish some poor innocent with WWW
   spiders forever.
