   There are differences between the two formats, but linux works with both.    
   I use this with mint here. It turns out that the OS/2 version can't be   
   used as a boot partition as it lacks some features that are required by   
   linux, but an OS/2 formatted JFS partition can be used to share data with   
   OS/2. You can even share a bootable OS/2 formatted JFS partition. You   
   will need to set owner and permissions properly on linux for this or you   
   will be restricted to root-only access.   
      
   The linux version of JFS is not supported by OS/2 and you won't be able to   
   mount such a partition from OS/2.   
      
   So any JFS partition formatted by OS/2 can be used by both for data, but   
   is not suitable for a linux boot partition.
