After using the 2010 Dec 04 build of Firefox for a while, I think I've
seen enough of a pattern to comment on what could be involved in the
   frequent crashes I've seen.

There is a web page (not a public one, so don't ask for the URL) that
contains links to sub-pages that monitor the progress of several
long-running computer programs. The main page refreshes itself every
hour. The sub pages do not. I normally left the main page up for
monitoring purposes, and Firefox would have crashed overnight. But
on one occasion, I accidentally left the tab on one of the sub-pages,
and Firefox stayed up for multiple days. I've left it both ways now
several times, and when the main page is left showing, Firefox won't
stay up overnight, but when one of the sub-pages is showing, Firefox
can often survive multiple days. So evidence points to something
related to pages that automatically refresh themselves that causes
the Firefox beta to crash. Nothing fancy on the web pages. The
main page just shows some progress graphs (some quantity as a function
of time) plus links to the sub-pages that show progress graphs for
   other related quantities.
