   ... as it would, because in PS/2 emulation mode (which M. Erdmann is    
   erroneously calling "legacy mode"), your machine's firmware is handling    
   the USB hardware in System Management Mode and making it seem, to    
   everything else, as though there is an i8042 keyboard and mouse    
   connected, including to the operating system and to its device drivers.
