So I started        BF> with my nine CD collection of ABBA music, and re-ripped them all to        BF> lossless FLAC files. But before I go all-in on a costly path, I want        BF> to make sure I'm on the right path.              Well, since they are digital copies there is not much more you can do here.       Just make sure the cd's are clean before you start ripping, so the chance of       uncorrectable reading bit errors is minimal...               BF> So, I've tried various ways to reproduce the music, and I'm still not        BF> totally convinced. There's a long chain of possible POF on the way so        BF> far. The first one is the digital distribution of the music files. And        BF> here's where I wonder if there's still some true audiophiles out        BF> there. With the ultimate sound system, and the ear to notice the        BF> difference between "normal" music and proper Hi-Fi ditto.               BF> On http://eljaco.se/ABBA/ I have all the 133 ABBA songs in my        BF> possession in a loss-less format.              It would be nice if they were grouped on an album basis! ;)               BF> Can you please check and see if you think it's worth spending        BF> thousands of dollars pursuing this quest.              What could improve playback experience a bit is if you apply "replaygain" to       your files. This doesn't change the bytes that represents the music, but adds       some calculated values for the music that can improve your playback experience:              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReplayGain              With commandline flac you just add --replaygain when encoding the files. Or       you can have it added afterwards if your software doesn't support it directly.              Bye, Wilfred.              --- FMail-lnx64 2.1.0.18-B20170815        * Origin: FMail development HQ (2:280/464)       SEEN-BY: 1/123 15/0 90/1 103/705 105/81 120/340 123/120 131 124/5016       SEEN-BY: 129/305 153/250 757 7715 203/0 218/840 220/70 221/0 226/17       SEEN-BY: 226/30 229/424 426 428 664 700 249/307 400 250/5 8 261/38       SEEN-BY: 267/800 280/464 5003 282/1038 292/854 298/25 301/1 305/3       SEEN-BY: 317/3 320/219 322/757 341/234 396/45 423/120 460/58 712/848       SEEN-BY: 770/1 100 340 772/210 220 230 2320/105 2452/250       PATH: 280/464 770/1 317/3 229/426           |
