MSGID: 1:135/250@fidonet 6847dc13       PID: C-NET AMIGA BBS 5.36b       Finally got away to go see a movie this afternoon.               I went and saw The Amateur.               I have mixed feelings about this film. While it was not a total stinker it        was not a movie that I would really RAVE about either.               Chales Heller, a shy and socially inept cryptanalyst with the CIA is out for       revenge when his wife Sarah is murdered while at a business conference in       London. Using data he collected of illegal operations conducted by the CIA's       Deputy Director he wants to be put into action to get revenge from those       responsible for his wife's death.               The only problem is he can't shoot a gun. Still undeterred he uses the       skills he does have to go after the bad guys. Will he ultimately be       successful? Will Charles be taken out by operatives of the corrupt and       cornered Deputy Director or by the killers he is hunting?               The movie for the most part plods along, with enough action to keep it       interesting, but it by no means keeps you on the edge of your seat. The movie       was obviously shot digitally, and at times looks more like something shot for       TV vs the big screen (I miss the graininess of film, and the feeling of       24fps.). Several of the slower more dramatic scenes were ruined for me by       being shot handheld. I can understand using a Steadicam to shoot action, but       not some of the more intimate scenes. It definitely ruins the closeness when       the camera drifts up and down (Even slightly).               Was it a bad film? No. Do I regret seeing it? No, but it could have been        better.              Rug Rat (Brent Hendricks)       Blog and Forums - www.catracing.org       IMAGE BBS! 3.0 - bbs.catracing.org 6400       C-Net Amiga BBS - bbs.catracing.org 6840       FIDO-Node# - 1:135/250       --- CNet/5        * Origin: The Rat's Den BBS (1:135/250)       SEEN-BY: 1/120 18/0 50/22 103/705 104/119 105/81 106/201 114/10 116/116       SEEN-BY: 120/302 616 123/0 25 126 180 525 755 3001 3002 124/5016 128/187       SEEN-BY: 129/14 305 135/0 115 205 220 240 250 363 385 388 390 391       SEEN-BY: 153/757 7715 154/10 30 50 110 700 203/0 218/700 220/6 20       SEEN-BY: 220/30 90 221/0 6 222/2 226/18 30 44 50 227/114 229/110 114       SEEN-BY: 229/206 300 317 400 426 428 470 550 664 700 705 240/1120       SEEN-BY: 240/5832 250/1 263/1 266/512 280/464 5003 5006 291/111 292/8125       SEEN-BY: 301/1 310/31 320/219 322/757 341/66 234 342/200 396/45 423/120       SEEN-BY: 460/58 256 1124 467/888 633/280 712/848 1321 770/1 902/26       SEEN-BY: 2320/105 3634/0 12 24 27 56 57 58 60 5020/400 8912 5054/30       SEEN-BY: 5075/35       PATH: 135/250 115 3634/12 154/10 280/464 460/58 229/426           |
