   I remember seeing the first Lord of the Rings in the theatre.  Before the   
   movie began they had an usher come to the front and make an announcement to   
   the effect of:   
      
   "This film has a running time of 2 hours and 58 minutes.  There is no   
   intermission.  Please be advised that the concession stand closes at 9:30pm.   
   If you want snacks, please get them now or before they close in an hour & a   
   half.  Restrooms will remain open for the duration of the film."   
      
   We were there to watch it opening night.  I guess they were just trying to nip   
   any possible complaints in the bud.
