e-Ministries       by Jon Justvig       February 15, 2013               Issue #: 14              Let us resume our reading in Genesis Chapter 9, verse 1.              Gen 9:1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful,       and multiply, and replenish the earth.               Not the first time God has said be fruitful and multiply. You'll notice this       being repeated in another chapter further down the road. All of mankind,       mammals, birds and the like were lost except those in the Ark. Now God has       commanded Noah and his family to flourish and multiply.              Gen 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of       the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the       earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.               Every beast, fowl of the air any anything that creapth on the Earth are now       are owned by Noah, once again since Adam.              Gen 9:3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the       green herb have I given you all things.               We see here that every beast that provides food is acceptable in the eyes of       the Lord and the herb, being vegatables and fruit as well as grain and the       like is pleasing to God for mankind to eat at this point.              Gen 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye       not eat.               We are not to eat the flesh of these beasts as God has commanded or the blood       that is contained within. So be sure to skin all the meat you eat and cook       your food thoroughly as in, well done. This is commanded of God.              Gen 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of       every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every       man's brother will I require the life of man. Gen 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's       blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.               We are the image of God, everyone of us as branches and fruit of one big       tree. We are as one.              Gen 9:7 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the       earth, and multiply therein.        Gen 9:8 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, Gen 9:9        And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;        Gen 9:10 And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the       cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the       ark, to every beast of the earth.        Gen 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh       be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be       a flood to destroy the earth.               This is the good news. God will not destroy mankind by a flood. He has made       this promise and he keeps his promise. Does that mean he can or will destroy       mankind again by any other means?              Gen 9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between       me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual       generations:        Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a       covenant between me and the earth.               Be reminded as it rains or afterwards when you see a rainbow, this is God's       promise as a reminded to us that he will not flood the Earth again as he has       done since Noah's Ark.              Gen 9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that       the bow shall be seen in the cloud:               Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and       every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a       flood to destroy all flesh.        Gen 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I       may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of       all flesh that is upon the earth.        Gen 9:17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I       have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth. Gen 9:18        And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and       Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. Gen 9:19 These are the three sons       of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.               There you have it. The rainbow, God's promise.              Gen 9:20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard: Gen       9:21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within       his tent.        Gen 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and       told his two brethren without.        Gen 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their       shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and       their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. Gen       9:24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done       unto him.        Gen 9:25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be       unto his brethren.        Gen 9:26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be       his servant.               Ham, Noah's son had seen his father naked after Noah had drank of wine and       became drunk and had cursed Ham. Shem and Japheth his other two sones had       covered Noah and not seen Noah's nakedness and they were blessed. Canaan,       Ham's son has been cursed and has become a servant.              Gen 9:27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem;       and Canaan shall be his servant.        Gen 9:28 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. Gen       9:29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.               Wow! Noah lived nine hundred and fifty years. Can you imagine that? If only       we had that much time on this Earth as Noah. We will see later in reading how       and why our life has been limited to just over a hundred years. Remember, the       wages of sin is death.              ***              If you've enjoyed our meeting, remember to ask your SysOp to carry MINISTER,       an echo with FidoNet if he/she doesn't already. Remember also to keep your       head up high. May God bless you and keep you!               *** This conclude this issue of e-Ministries provided by Jon Justvig.              --- BBBS/LiI v4.10 Dada-1        * Origin: Nightfall Ordain -- http://vintagebbsing.com:8080 (1:298/5)    |
