I am on SS and working.        With Social Security one can earn extra money with a cap, go over that       and the feds take it.        I was talking with some of the cops at work the other day and said that       "Big Daddy" (my nickname for the owner, whom they know, who is a cop in a       nearby town) is looking out for us by paying very little so this doesn't       happen. :)        I'm not sure what the cap is but I'm under it.              > So you get taxed by akll 3 levels of goverbment?!               And not just that.        Say you buy a car or house. You are taxed first for the car/house. Then       each year you are taxed on it again as personal property.        Plus in WV a car is considered a luxury, and there is a luxury tax.              > I'm trying to get it so my city can raise money by taxes other than property       & gas, as is allowed in our Constitution. (our federal evel is not allowed to       raise money by income taxes nor sales ta=xes,. yet does both with impunity, &       even the Supreme Court c               Cities in WV are not allowed to have a city tax, per se.        They get around this by having "business and occupation" taxes. These       are passed on to the consumer and such things as a gas or electric bill will       list this, that and the other tax (fed/state) and list the B&O tax as well.        Its like the old Beatles song, "Taxman".        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0zaebtU-CA&ab_channel=TheBeatles-Topic               >>> We have Emplyment Insurance up here you pay into from each paycheque.               Oh, and WV also taxes one unemployment money when drawn on. Money one       has already been taxed on as well.              > > I don't have a lot invested and frankly don't recall what the money is       in. Half is in bonds. Pays little but safe, and half is in the market.       >        > Mutual Funds via your bank?               I believe so.              > Nice tyhing about this echo is we can chat like this, preaching to the choir       & the rare new gen who wants to, can read & be inspired by our war stories :D                Yep.        Joe       --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5        * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 www.doccyber.org bbs.docsplace.org (1:135/392)       SEEN-BY: 1/120 123 15/0 18/0 90/1 105/81 106/201 116/116 120/340 123/0       SEEN-BY: 123/25 115 126 131 160 180 190 200 755 129/305 330 331 135/300       SEEN-BY: 135/366 371 379 382 383 384 385 388 390 391 392 138/146 153/757       SEEN-BY: 153/7715 154/10 222/2 226/30 227/114 229/110 206 307 317       SEEN-BY: 229/400 424 426 428 452 664 700 240/1120 5832 250/1 261/1466       SEEN-BY: 266/512 275/100 1000 282/1038 292/854 299/6 300/4 301/1 317/3       SEEN-BY: 320/219 322/757 342/11 200 396/45 460/58 633/280 640/1321       SEEN-BY: 712/848 3634/0 12 15 24 27 50 5020/1042       PATH: 135/392 300 3634/12 153/7715 229/426           |
