   Back when I worked at General Motors, we normally got the day before Christmas   
   to the day after New Year's Day off.  But for hourly workers, if they had to   
   work that week, got overtime plus holiday pay - effectively triple time.  So   
   for 1 week's "work", they got 1 month's pay.   
      
   They used to play the strangest games to align themselves to be able to get   
   work that week.  (There's a bunch of Union rules about who gets asked for   
   overtime.)
