You can take it as early as 55, but then you are       penalized.               The youngest for Social Security here is 62.         But, if you take it as 62 whatever your retirement income is locked at       that amount, which is generally one half of what one would get at 65/66.        Private retirements are different. Such as retiring from Company X after       so many years, etc.               > Of course, but because all contribute when they have income, those without       means are fully covered.               Too many down south of the border here are takers and contribute       nothing.        There are all sorts federal/state "safety nets" that have become       hammocks instead.        The US government provided $300 a week for each person who wasn't       working due to layoffs, firing, quitting, due to Covid. Those people refused       work       since they were making more from unemployment benefits than a pay cheque.         This created a worker shortage and companies are begging for employees       with hiring bonuses, more pay, etc. But many would rather lay in that       hammock then get up and go to work since they are sometimes making more by not       working.        Not so long ago "not hiring" signs were common in WV. Today "now       hiring" signs are everywhere. With few takers.        Joe       --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5        * Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 www.doccyber.org bbs.docsplace.org (1:135/392)       SEEN-BY: 1/120 123 14/0 18/0 30/0 80/1 90/1 103/705 105/81 116/116       SEEN-BY: 120/340 457 616 123/0 10 25 40 115 126 131 150 160 180 190       SEEN-BY: 123/200 257 755 129/305 135/300 366 371 379 382 383 384 385       SEEN-BY: 135/388 390 391 392 153/7715 154/10 30 40 50 700 203/0 218/700       SEEN-BY: 220/80 90 221/1 6 226/18 30 227/114 201 702 229/424 426 428       SEEN-BY: 229/452 664 700 981 240/1120 5832 249/206 307 317 400 261/38       SEEN-BY: 280/464 282/464 1038 292/854 299/6 300/4 301/0 1 101 113       SEEN-BY: 301/123 317/3 322/757 335/364 341/66 342/200 633/280 712/848       SEEN-BY: 920/1 2320/105 3634/0 12 15 24 27 50 5020/1042 5058/104       PATH: 135/392 300 3634/12 154/10 301/1 229/426           |
