   If any Ubuntu / Gengoo user has had similar results and or fixed the problem   
   please let me know.

   Well It looks like you are missing libraries but what I don't know.   
      
   If you have not run configure, make, make install   
   using > config.log >config.err and ditto make >build.log 2>build.err   
    and  make install >install-it.log 2>install-it.err   
      
   I suggest you do so. Once at a time and go thorough the > xx.err looking at   
   each line (configure) to see if it reports 'anything' which shows   
   your system is missing an element and yes it will report stuff that is not   
   important.   
      
   If necessary I will send you one from my system but there will be differences   
   as I have added a lot more than you.   
      
   Then do the same for the compile having double checks before doing the   
   configure for needed elements from the README files   
      
   Let me know.   
      
      
   I have never been fond of Ubuntu :)   
   Remind me what version of Ubuntu are you using and is it up to date with a bug   
   fixes etc?
