      I don't know that it does, necessarily, but it does explicitly note which   
   version of glibc it's compiled against...

       Yep.  The current installation of MBSE BBS there was done by doing the   
   standard compile/install procedure, long before I started thinking about   
   working on debian packaging for it.

      Indeed.  Worst case would be, once the OS itself was operational;  then   
   install the binary debian package, then spend a few minutes with the basic   
   configuration.  That would get the node operational again, though there would   
   still be all the rest of the configuration to be done.  (not assuming anything   
   about being able to use the old configuration, as I haven't actually tried   
   that...)

       It's not, that I'm aware of.  It's the only program there are any issues
