Hi Nick!              >> I mostly use Linux Containers (lxc) for things like that, rather than       >> Virtual Machines. On the other       > hand, I only use VMs for testing purposes, and shut it down when I'm        > done messing around.                I use them for both testing as well as for needed services. I maintain a       'template' lxc system for each of the current versions of Debian, only starting       them up to do package updates or to check something in them. When I need a       server, for testing or othewise, I just copy one of the base template systems,       change the name and IP address in the configuration and root file system, and       it's ready to go. Then just install whatever apps etc that I want to have on       it, which I can do once it's running. Note, btw, that a such a base install       only takes about 444 Megs of drive space for a Debian v6 system.                                           Jame              --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag        * Origin: Rocasa BBS (1:120/546)    |
