|    Help compiling on a Mac    |
|    05 Sep 16 18:36:12    |
Hello Allen!              04 Sep 16 17:32, you wrote to all:               AP> I'm trying to get MBSE to compile on a mac (using the unix shell) and        AP> I can get the CONFIGURE to run... now when I try to do the make I am        AP> getting this error... Sourceforge shows it will work with mac as I see        AP> the icon there but see little help on how to make it work.               AP> This is my first time in the foray of compiling anything would        AP> appreciate help.                      AP> Compiler is GCC : ............. yes               AP> Installation directories :               AP> Main directory : ........... /opt/mbse        AP> Owner and group : ........... mbse.bbs               AP> Now type 'make' and as root 'make install'               AP> ORION:mbsebbs-1.0.6 AllenPrunty$ make               AP> MBSE_ROOT is not set!               AP> make: *** [all] Error 3               It is asking for the environment variable MBSE_ROOT to find the root        directory. It sysms odd, as it already knows that it will be /opt/mbse               If you enter export MBSE_ROOT=/opt/mbse all should be well.        Later on mbse will want to run as user "mbse" and group "bbs"               If it still needs the environment variable MBSE_ROOT then, you can set the        value in the .profile file.               Don't look at me as an expert, I only ran a part of MBSE on Linux/Intel and        I have a demo system without bells, whistles and doors on a raspberry-Pi.               Andrew Leary is currently the most active Sysop where it concerns devopments,        such as keeping up with the features in Binkp.               MBSE was about the first package that supported IPv6 and although not yet        perfect, it was also the first supporting UTF-8.               The original developer Michiel Broek was aqainted with both IPv6 and UTF-8        from his professional job. Michiel has lost his interest in Fidonet and        is not available for questions with respect to MBSE.               I believe Vince Coen is now the custodian of the sources stored at        Sourceforge.               It is a nice package, but the menu-driven configuration drives me crazy and        I am not interested BBS's, so that part of the package is useless overhead        to me.              Kees                     --- Raspberry Fields forever        * Origin: ----> Golded - HPT - Binkd on a RaspberryPi <---- (2:280/5003.6)    |
