Yet       two out of the 3 take on a role of RC, and you are the ZC? Sorry, I thought       things were different according to how most software is laid out. One ZC passes       mail to however many RCs, those RCs pass mail to NCs in their region, and NCs       pass mail to Sysops/nodes. That is, how it originally came to be, right?               > Ross handles all netmail bound for Z3, Bob handles all netmail bound for Z2/        > as an example.. As Star systems we each set up our individual *routing* for         > netmail to accomodate these routings for netmail There are other routings i        > use, but the above is an example of some of them.              Yeah. That's a complete other discussion we don't need to get into. Just as       well, we're taking this whole thing way off topic, and I apologize for that. I       suppose I could move this part of the discussion to the Z1C echo.               > Because I am the ZC now however, I do have to maintain a direct connection w        > each RC so that they can upload their regional segments here each week.. _So        > of the 10 Z1 RCs also just happen to pick up echomail here, but not _all_ of        > them do. A while back, I asked each of the RCs if I could route any netmail        > for their regions to them directly and some of them agreed to that as well.         > This is not something they "have" to do by their job description (read         > policy4).              And noone thinks this is a bad idea? The fact that you have to _ask_ and you       noone _has_ to do a damn thing? Doesn't that make Fidonet sloppy? I always       thought of this place as the origin for *rules* and *structure* when it came to       FTN technology. The fact that people don't _have_ to do anything, but they're       allowed to take any job in Fidonet, is probably why netmail routing is screwed       up, and echomail doesn't get evenly distrobuted. Noone sees this as a problem?       Or is P4 like the bible for some of you?              I don't use Golded or Timed, if you can crosspost this to Z1C and finish the       discussion there, that would be just fine. Like I said, I apologize for going       way off topic here, I just like to know how things work before involving myself       with it. :)              --       Nick aka axisd - telnet://bbs.pharcyde.org        http://pharcyde.org       --- SBBSecho 2.12-Linux        * Origin: thePharcyde_ telnet://bbs.pharcyde.org (Wisconsin) (1:154/10)    |
