      Maybe a wee bit off topic for this echo, but you are quite right -- in a   
   star configuration.   
      
      If we hadn't still suffered from the stupid zone idea in fidonet, we could   
   easily have converted to a web configuration, where every system sends   
   redundant mail flow in all directions, many years ago.   
      
      And we still could do that, if all systems had prober and reliable dupe   
   detection. Unfortunately it takes only one single bad system on the entire web   
   to sabotage every attempt in that direction.
