   It's a feature in FE's configuration executable. I can turn it on/off   
   individually by node or area. I just checked FE's config and did a Global   
   change to turn off the 'Convert Umlaut Y/N' for all areas. i.e. No

   Look in BBBS's configs...it may have a switch that you're overlooking.
