      LOL! Well, that version of Makenl is the one I have used ever since 1998   
   when I patched it, so I think you can safely use it. :)

      ... and as you can see, my 203/6 node there has the 'ö' character in my   
   name intact (no question mark).

      Oh yes. I've been working on this for the better part of the 20 odd years   
   I've been connected to fidonet. But only lately there's been some interest   
   from parts of fidonet outside of the non-English speaking regions.
