super, for me as a ebuild writer its important with source, eg if tarball
change md5 there is a big problem on gentoo, no kidding

JC> I plan to look at that archive that Gert apparently distributed (it's not
JC> an official archive, to my knowledge) to see what is in it..

could you unpack both in seperate dir, and then do

   diff -urp ./sf.net-source ./gert-source > gerts.patch

and then upload the gerts.patch to sf.net

then more could help stablelize it :)

JC> Homepage is now makenl.sourceforge.net (that hub2000 site may still be
JC> defined in DNS, but to my knowledge nothing has responded there for
    JC> quite some time...).

i will update this in ebuild now so

    >> SRC_URI="http://www.filegate.net/coordutl/mn329src.zip"

JC> That source url is good for the files that are distributed via the
JC> filegate. All files are (or should be) available from the MakeNL project
JC> site at sourceforge, including ones that don't get distributed...

sf.net is not a problem from gentoo ebuilds since i can change to mirror or
make the ebuild turn of mirror so i control with source to use even if on diff
   mirrors :)

JC> I realize that configuring a good source URL isn't always easy,
    JC> especially for SourceForge...

if Janis want to start using gentoo its important that i make good ebuilds :)

JC> (Which reminds me; I need to test that for the debian packaging again,
JC> since SF has been making changes again...)

   its like titanic sinking :)

JC> I don't think that the in-between (fix type) versions, like 3.2.9a that
JC> one of us still need to do, are always distributed that way; but they'll
JC> always be available at the project site.

is 3.2.9a possible to download as tarball now ?, or is it just in cvs ?

    >> is makenl_ng and makenl diff sources code ?
JC> Not that I'm aware of...

   super ok

    >> if so i need to make another ebuild ?
JC> Not unless you want to do one for things like the fix versions, like
    JC> 3.2.9a..

3.2.9 seqfaults here, but i have a 3.2.7 that is static linked, atleast so
   titanic dont sink :)

JC> I'd still like to create an RPM distribution archive, along with the
JC> debian archive I having working (but haven't decided how to make
JC> available, though I'll likely put the debian source files up at the
    JC> SourceForge site)...

have you found with gcc that compiles stable ?

    >> get qico fixed to work with latest perl :)
JC> qico is also enabled for Perl?

unpack it and ./configure --help (see perl) ?

JC> Is the documentation still non-english?

most is, but i got enough to use qico here

JC> (where would be a good place to discuss that?)

   anywhere

    Regards Benny
