   makenl: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for

   So it's 32 bit, but that probably isn't too important. The 'dynamically   
   linked' is though, because that means it only runs on systems that have the   
   correct set of libraries installed.   
      
   For instance on a bit older linux system:   
      
   # uname -r   
   2.6.18.8-0.13-default   
      
   I get:   
      
   # ./makenl   
   ./makenl: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.7' not found (required by ./makenl)
