   this reminds me, to post a bug that I've found with rev 3.2.9a   
   and previous revisions   
      
   don't know exactly since when the loglevel has been introduced.   
   I've added debug logging (full logging with level 4), I've noticed   
   that the message writings results in a file with length 0   
      
   Several hours and days later after analysing with assistance from other   
   C-programmers, I've stumbled over a failure in stack handling, where the   
   filepointer gets overwritten :-P

   With the fix, the filepointer on the stack gets fixed and the filepointer   
   used for open the message file keeps intact.
