   TANZANIA, 5H.  Igor, UA3DJY is QRV as 5H3ACR from Dar Es Salaam and   
   is here until late December.  Activity is on all HF bands using CW   
   and SSB.  He will also be active from the DIT Communications Club   
   station 5I3A.  QSL via RK3AOL.   
      
   TONGA, A3.  Dave, W6ZL is QRV as A35KL from Tongatapu Island, IOTA   
   OC-049, until December 24.  Activity is on 80 to 10 meters using CW.   
   QSL direct to home call.   
       
   SOUTH COOK ISLANDS, E5.  Giulio, IW3HVB will be QRV as E51HVB from   
   Aitutaki Island, IOTA OC-083, from December 24 to 28.  Activity is   
   holiday style on 40 to 10 meters.  QSL to home call.   
      
   TEMOTU PROVINCE, H40.  Siegfried, DK9FN and Hans, DG1FK will be QRV   
   as H40FN and H40FK, respectively, from Nendo Island, IOTA OC-100.   
   Activity will be on 160 to 6 meters using CW, and RTTY and PSK,   
   respectively.  QSL H40FN via HA8FW and H40FK via DG1FK.   
      
   JAPAN, JA.  Operator JI3DST will be QRV as JI3DST/JS6 and JS6RRR on   
   Miyako Island, IOTA AS-079, from December 26 to January 4.  Activity   
   will be on 160 to 6 meters using CW, SSB, FM, RTTY and PSK.  QSL via   
   bureau.   
      
   BULGARIA, LZ.  Plamen, LZ3FM is QRV as LZ02WFF from the National   
   Park Pirin, WFF LZFF-002, near Bansko until December 25.  Activity   
   is on 80 through 10 meters using CW.  QSL via LZ1BJ.   
      
   PERU, OA.  Martijn, PA3GFE will be QRV as OA4/homecall beginning   
   December 28 for one month.  Activity will be holiday style on 40 to   
   15 meters, and possibly 80 meters, using mainly CW and digital   
   modes.  QSL to home call.   
      
   SUDAN, ST.  Robert, ST2AR has been QRV on 30 meters around 1900z.   
   QSL via S53R.   
      
   PALAU, T8.  Ryosei, JH0IXE is QRV as T8CW until January 6.  Activity   
   is on 160 to 6 meters using mostly RTTY, SSTV, PSK31 and WSJT, with   
   some CW and SSB.  QSL to home call.   
      
   NAMIBIA, V5.  Ulmar, DK1CE will be QRV as V5/homecall from December   
   26 to January 6.  Activity will be on 160 to 10 meters using only   
   CW.  QSL to home call.   
      
   MEXICO, XE.  Markus, DJ4EL will be QRV as XE1/homecall from   
   Mexico-City, Tlaxcala and Queretaro from December 25 to January 9.   
   Activity will be on all HF bands using SSB.  QSL to home call.   
      
   INDONESIA, YB.  A group of operators will be QRV as YE2H from   
   Kebumen City on the Central Java Province South Coast, IOTA OC-021,   
   and will also activate the Klirong Lighthouse, ARLHS IDO-374, from   
   December 28 to January 4 during the 75th anniversary celebration of   
   the city.  Activity will be on all HF bands using all modes.  QSL   
   via YB2TJV.   
      
   THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO.  The DARC Christmas Contest, QRP CW Fox   
   Hunt, NCCC Sprint and The RAEM CW Contest are all on tap this   
   holiday weekend.  The QRP CW Fox Hunt on 80 meters is scheduled for   
   December 29.  The Lighthouse Christmas Lights QSO Party runs until   
   January 2.  Please see December QST, page 66 and the ARRL and WA7BNM   
   contest web sites for details.

   Gentlemens' agreements ratified by IARU regions 1 and 2 have   
   designated a global "center of activity" frequency  in  each   
   of  the  international  hf  bands.  THese are similar to the   
   concept for weak signal calling and other center of activity   
   frequencies.  Three of these have been ratified worldwide.   
      
   THese  center of activity frequencies are where stations can   
   go to render or obtain emergency assistance.   
      
   WHen casually operating or  contesting  on  hf  please  make   
   yourself  aware  of  these  frequencies,  and give them some   
   space. Remember that often stations with emergency needs are   
   not  those  utilizing  high  gain antennas and maximum legal   
   power.
